Christmas Titles - Raincoast Books Review....

If you still have someone on your list that you don't know what to get them here are a few ideas from http://www.raincoast.com/ I was sent two delightful books for for children aged 2-6 and 3-6.

The first one is I Got the Christmas Spirit By Connie Schofield-Morrison, Illustrated by Frank Morrison

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and a mother and daughter are enjoying the sights and sounds of the holiday season. The little girl hears sleigh bells ringing and carolers singing. She smells chestnuts roasting-CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH! and sees the flashing lights of the department store windows-BLING! BLING! BLING! She spreads the spirit of giving wherever she goes.

And when she reaches Santa, she tells him her Christmas wish-for peace and love everywhere, all the days of the year.

Christmas spirit is expressed in joyous and reflective onomatopoeic exclamations in this new holidy staple...Snowflakes flutter across bright illustrations, encouraging readers to inhale, feel, taste, and listen to all things Christmas as embodied in loving detail in the rhythmic language...soul-stirring and sure to put readers in a festive mood.

The second book I received is Sparkle's First Christmas by Amy Young.

Its's Sparkle's first Christmas and Lucy is showing him how to celebrate. Make a snowman. Check. Make a unicorn snowman. Check. Hang stockings, make cookies, and, of course-buy presents! (But don't eat them.) Check.
In pure Sparkle-fashion, nothing goes as planned, but Lucy ends up learning the love--not presents-- is what Christmas is all about.

The joy of giving permeates Lucy's first Christmas with her unicorn in this series third after A New Friend for Sparkle. Lucy is a little girl of color with light-brown skin and springy black hair. Merry and bright.

These are two wonderful books for any child to find under the tree at Christmas. This is a review only.
