Holiday Gift Guide~Crafting Calm~Open to US/CAN~Ends Nov. 21/13 CLOSED

Crafting Calm by Maggie Oman Shannon, an interfaith minister, spiritual director, workshop and retreat facilitator, and author, inspires with its broad assortment of spiritual practices gathered from crafts communities around the world, as well as from everyday people who have adopted creative forms of spiritual practice. Organized into eight chapters that address different intentions one can hold when approaching creating, sections include crafting for calm, clarity, comfort, contemplation, connection with others and connection with spirit, offering an opportunity for conscious intention to reflect in some way—or to be a vehicle to communing—with the Divine. Each chapter presents five different practices, offering forty activities to inspire, along with a series of questions for journaling and reflection.
This book is great for the avid or novice crafter or for anyone looking for spirituality in their daily lives.
This is an Inner Wisdom Doll
You will find the directions in the book how to make your very own doll.

The Meaning of Colors
I received this book, Crafting Calm and found it quite interesting. The following lists some common associations made with particular colors. These associations may be helpful to you. If you have a particular intention for your craft that you want to support with color:

Red----Confidence, courage, vitality
Brown---Earth, order
Orange---Vitality with endurance
Pink---Love, beauty
Green---Life, fertility, well-being
Purple---Spirituality, royalty
Blue---Truth, peace
Gold---Prosperity, wisdom
Yellow---Happiness, intellectual energy
Indigo---Intuition, meditation
White---Purity, cleansing
Gray---Maturity, security
Black---Stability, mystery

In this book it gives you directions on how to make many things and one other craft to make is the Talking Stick. The use of a "talking stick" comes from the Native American tradition, it is a tool used when gathered as a group that honors the contributions of each group member. The stick is passed to each person as that person speaks, and only the person who is holding the stick is allowed to speak at that time. The intention behind the talking stick is to let everyone's voice be heard.
Like I said I found this book very interesting as I am sure the winner will as well.
In closing I am going to post this short little verse:
"Just as the religious person makes time for prayer during the day, the creative person makes time for expression...Art as spiritual exercise suggests that any person can find a way to make time for the creative act each day."
Shaun McNiff
